Mechanics' Lien Laws have been enacted to protect those furnishing labor, material, and/or equipment for the improvement of real property. Construction documents and contract may also create lien rights on other improvements to real property. The statute establishing mechanic's lien as well as the contract documents often contain rigid Notice and Filing requirements in order to assert and protect the lien interest.
